The beach of Ilha de Tavira is situated at the extreme east, next to the bar of Tavira. The access is made by boat, preferably from the pier of Quatro Águas; the path to the pier follows the Gilão River and the artisanal fishing fleet that circulates or rests there, as well as the luminous saltpans, where the black-winged stilt, a bird that resembles a miniature stork, feeds.
